Japanese Movie Theater?

Have you ever watched a movie in Japan and you were the only one laughing? It happened to me. Are Japanese people normally quiet during the movies? (as in not laughing)

I hear them laugh sometimes. If you are watching a movie in English then it may be hard for them. Sarcasm and some jokes are hard to translate.

You are correct that there are some scenes english speaking movie goers would find a scene very funny and would laugh while our hosts would not. The reason behind this is the translation of the phrase did not actually portray the meaning. There are many words that do not translate very well from English to Japanese and Japanese to English.

Usally most Japanese subtitiles for english films are very short and sweet and to the point
they are normally quiet yes maybe because they dont want to distract other viewers.but they laugh when the scene is funny,i remember watching a japanese movie about a group of oldmen coping in their old age and its hilarious and everybody was really laughing.if its an english movie then they dont get the punchline thats why they are not laughing.japanese arent that stiff.
