Do PTA parents have mental problems?

Do PTA parents have mental problems?

Seriously, my niece's mother (my sister-in-law) had to attend a college friend's funeral and asked me to take her daugher to the PTA.

Never in my life have I met a bunch of poor, miserable bastards in my life. Bitchin and complaining about the dumbest things in the world. Example, the yellow paint on the gym walls is too bright!!! People complaining about things that the average American could care less about. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE A SOAP OPERA W/O THE FIST FIGHTS!!! One parent got kicked out for using a certain four-letter word and another threatened another parent for placing his son's drawing painting over another child's drawing.

Plus, where in the hell were all the Hispanic and black parents?!?!? I felt like I was at a KKK rally. I white myself BTW!

WHAT A BUNCH OF MISERABLE TARTS!!!! As a 24 year-old I'm starting to question the whole procreation thing!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!

annnnnnnnnnd THAT'S why I will never be a member of the PTA.

Yes it seems that all PTA parents act like that... but it is important to note that not all PARENTS act like that.

They do have mental problems!! I hate going to my nieces schools PTA meetings. The parents are way to much for me to handle. Oh and the B!tchness. If your not there I can tell you you get a hell of a talking about (%26amp; it's not nice things being said!!). It is so sad that they have nothing better to do!!
I believe they have nothing better to do if they are fighting about small things like that. That is not how most adults act though. Some people just talk to hear their own voices.
I read that and it reminded me of a girl scout leader that did PTA when I was a kid, she was a nut and she drug a girl out of class because she sold cookies a day early... lol... but its not just that it's tons of people they are so anal about weird crap... What type of town were you in%26gt; a yuppity uppity one? that could explain it... not to offend anyone who is yuppity and what not.
The sad thing is that it is fairly normal. Most parents who turn up for PTA are the self-righteous bigots who think they can solve all the world's problems by using rude words and violence. Most sensible parents avoid them at all costs, knowing all too well what goes on in them.

Take heart, though. It's not the same the rest of the world over. I've been to Australian, British and New Zealand equivalents and they've all been fairly normal (although every committee seems to have one psycho nut).
HAHAHA! Sad isn't it? People should spend more time trying to improve their worlds, like helping , the sick/poor. I definitely understand wanting to be part of what goes on at my child's school, but who cares what color the walls are?!
A lot of times you'll find that minority mothers tend to not get as involved with their child's education. Also, are there many black or hispanic children going to that school? If not, then that's why all parents were white. By the way, the PTA isn't for the kids to attend. It's for parents and school officials to discuss what's going on with the school, future plans, etc.
yes they do. they are over involved and live vicariously through their children.
they have nothing better to do.
lmao. Yes some do. They have nothing else in their lives. Have kids and stay away from PTA's.

I am in Australia and at our school there are only a few parents on parents club and they are all nice. So I don't think it is like that here. but i can imagine
No, not really
THANK GOD you're starting to question the whole procreation thing!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!
As a Latina, I must say I'm very involved in my 6yr old son's education, extra curricular activities such as boy scouts and sports. My siblings do the same as two are middle school and high school teachers and many other Latinos I know are just as active. We are protective of our children and want to make sure they do their best with their education and in life. We strive for our children to do their best so as not to prove right of those IGNORANT people that are so quick to label Latinos as uneducated and poorly behaved or not well mannered.

As for not being active in the PTA I speak for mysely, mainly the women in that group, behave as high school girls and I want no part of that. If you are not part of their group they make sure to stand in a little circle as you take your child to / from school and as you pass their group makes rude comments, snicker, giggle out loud making bluntly obvious that they are discussing you or your child. It's so obvious when in fact they feel the need to all look in your direction, mention your name in conversation while all this is happening. Its awkward because you know nothing about these people and vice versa and here they are prying into ones life by making baseless judgments.

I've already seen how some of those PTA members who also attend our son's scouts meetings are and they literally shout over each other, don't respect each others personal space as they get very in your face, cuss each other out, are poorly organized and frown when receiving a new suggestion which I've tried to do but since it wasn't their idea its not welcomed. I attend those scout meetings so as to be informed after they are done battling it out and see where I can volunteer but as far as participating in a shouting match over what we should serve hot dogs or pizza thats a battle they can fight over. Despite this group I still volunteer my time in Scouts, I volunteer at the school in my son's class, attend every field trip they may have, I coach my son's soccer team,i take him to gymnastics and wait for him during his session because i want to see his progress, I attend all his school activities during and after school even those designed by the PTA if my son wants to go. I pay my PTA dues but as far as being part of that group which reflect a very poor character that's simply not the type of group I want to spend time with.

So to me it's not about Latinos not caring simply because some choose not to attend PTA meetings which discuss when the next movies in park night will be, or having lunch with the school superintendent, organizing tea time with the principle, to me it's about dedicating my time to something with more value and meaning for my family.

Personally to me the PTA is not responsible of what is being taught in class, they don't determine what courses would better the children everything they do is a little extra which is fine I'll pay for it but I rather focus my time and energy on everything else my son has going on which will allow him to be a healthy educated well rounded and diverse individual.
THEY were the ones bitching and complaining. Hmmm. I wonder who else does that??????
